Technical Principal & Practice Lead – Ports, Coastal and Offshore
Conference Day One: Tuesday, 11 December 2018
Monday, November 12th, 2018
During the past decades the Gulf coastline has undergone significant changes with a hundreds of new marine projects being constructed including reclamation of artificial islands, shoreline stabilizations, waterfront developments, ports and marinas and artificial beaches.
Due to the fact that coastal structures are exposed to the unpredictable (or not accurately quantifiable) nature of the sea and other elements, great focus is required in order to ensure that the structures are able to perform their duty satisfactorily during the intended life cycle. Some considerations are here presented on the importance of implementing an adequate inspection and maintenance regime for coastal structures in the Gulf area, with specific reference to rock armoured structures.
